JOB IS DUMB
Created Saturday 17 September 2022
My Job's dumb.
I work at a grocery store that is primarily "organic" and "health food".
The layout is that the store is cut in half. The left half is the healthy part and is where 99% happens.
The right half is basically just a ton of alcohol, more recently also generally anything bad for you.
Very few people go over there, fewer check out over there.
In the last 2 hours, there have been 6 people.
Now, what would make sense?
Close the door on that side and just ask people to check out at the main side,
OR have 1 person sit down doing nothing for 8 hours and being payed for it?
It makes no sense, especially considering the front is usually understaffed.
Notes from transcribing paper to computer (the day after):
Basically everyone agrees, its dumb.
The addition of non-alcohol items to that half was meant to be a bigger moment for the store I guess, so they're trying to make it open more often.
But it still makes no sense.
It wasn't advertised.
There are no signs.
Its so isolated that you either never notice it, or assume that's where all the alcohol is.
It wasn't until VERY recently that the sign that said "ALCOHOL HERE" was taken down.
Why the fuck did they leave it up if the point was that it isn't just alochol.
People just wont go there if they don't want alcohol, they'll never notice the change.
They just put up a sign that basically says "NORMAL STORE" but it doesn't help.
There is no indication on the inside of what that half of the store is, so the 99% that just use the main part will never know.
The outside sign is on the side of the store that only 20 people a day walk up to.
They're trying to make such a big deal of having slightly more store in their store, but if people want store, they wont go here.
You don't go to a health food store to get cat litter, you don't go there to get your toilet paper.
You go there for plants.
For anything else, there are better options that are both cheaper, and have their shit together.
Its all done so poorly.
